DFW HBCU Alumni Heritage Scholarship
The DFW HBCU Alumni Heritage Scholarship is a one-time scholarship awarded to students currently enrolled in any HBCU. This scholarship began in 2019.
DFW HBCU Alumni Heritage Scholarship History
In 2019, the DFW HBCU Alumni Heritage scholarship was started and awarded based on the generated revenue from the DFW HBCU 5K Fun Run/Walk event. This event and scholarship offering began when Mr. Cleveland Robinson (Fisk Alum) of the Robinson House Foundation, LLC approached the Council Executive board to host this event patterned around what the HBCU Alliance group (Atlanta chapter) started years ago. The idea was to have an annual HBCU 5K here in the DFW area and grow it to be a major fundraiser for awarding this scholarship through the 501c3 Metroplex Council along with the Robinson House Foundation, LLC (which is a public-based company owned by Mr. Cleveland Robinson). All revenue generated from the 5K event would be used to award $500 scholarships (based on available revenue) in hopes that we can eventually award larger dollar value scholarships. This scholarship is awarded to students currently attending any HBCU in the fall semester.
